APPROXIMATELY 317 ACRES IN SUMNER COUNTY KANSAS, HARGIS CREEK RUNS THROUGH THIS LEASE WEST TO EAST WITH PLENTY OF CROP AND COVER ON LOW HUMAN TRAFFIC AREAS. MINIMUM MAINTENANCE ROAD.
This lease is located just a couple miles south of Wellington, KS with plenty of lodging and amenities in the area. The property stretches over a mile long and is in three pieces, the 40 acres to the far south looks in the photos to be over grown pasture but it has recently been turned into crop ground so not much hunting but could be used as a south entrance if all crops are harvested.
There is 40 acres of pasture on the East 80 acres that adjoins 40 acres of crop ground that was planted in corn this year and looks like a lot of deer have found the leftover corn that didn’t get through the header during harvest.
My favorite part of this lease is the North portion on the southwest side of Hargis Creek, there seems to be more traffic in this area and I’m sure that is because of little to no pressure do to the access being somewhat tough. If you are hunting late season you could gain access from the West road if the crops are out by then or the gate to the pasture if the cattle are out. Either way, by ATV or by foot it would be a trip that shouldn’t disappoint.
The East road is not maintained well although the bridge is without a doubt a good spot for an easy access to a morning stand and there are lots of tracks crossing that road on both sides of the bridge. As I walked the creek edges there is no shortage of tall native hardwood timber and trails crossing the creek. One drive by on this lease and you will see why Unit 13 produces some great deer and awesome turkey hunting.
There is a lease for cattle grazing with no set removal date. The grazing is on the 47 acres along the south side of the 80 that is on the west side of the section.
ATV traffic limited when wet.
Foot traffic only on planted crops.
Lessee is responsible for posting property with HLN signs only.
