On my summertime visit, I spooked 3 different bedded bucks that had already started some impressive velvet growth and are no doubt going to be on someone’s watch list.

There is more bedding area along the Elk River than the aerial photos show. I personally like the opportunity to place a stand on the river dike and be able to see the traffic moving on the field edge. I assume this property will see a lot of traveling whitetails along the river and the bonus of being able to archery hunt thousands of Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks acres next door.
